Quarter cloth, printed paper over boards. No date on title page; Entered in the year 1870 on colophon, with no alteration. Unrestored binding is sound; all leaves present including blank at front and at rear, six plates including Casilear's patent advertising card [particularly well preserved], and the four micro-telescopic glass figures. Soil and rubbing to covers (advert text on rear panel obscured). Endpapers grubby; tideline to pages 16 and 17 and blank verso of the two plates between. Some toning, and offsetting from plates.
