Print on Demand. This book argues for the political union of British North America's provinces into a single, compact nation. The author posits that the time has come for these colonies, now mature and interconnected, to overcome the artificial barriers that divide them. By uniting, they would not only enhance their economic and social development but also gain a powerful voice on the world stage, becoming an influential force in international affairs. The book explores the historical, geographical, and economic factors that make such a union both desirable and feasible, envisioning a future where a united British North America stands as a beacon of progress and prosperity for its people and for the world. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

- Political Theory and History
The text sets out a clear premise: combining the provinces would shorten distances to power, elevate national pride, and change how the colonies are connected to the Mother Country. It weighs precedents, cautions against mimicry, and argues that responsibility for national destiny rests with the people themselves, even as it honors loyalty and shared interests with Britain.
- Explore why a union is framed as a practical, gradual path to national strength rather than a break from Britain.
- See how the author compares British America to other nations and discusses the risks and opportunities of independence.
- Understand the proposed changes to governance and the political logic behind a united colony.
- Learn about the historical context and the author’s vision for a lasting, influential national identity.
Ideal for readers of Canadian history, imperial politics, and 19th‑century political thought, this edition brings a provocative argument about national destiny to a modern audience.
