A revised, updated and enlarged edition of a book first published in German in 1896 and based on subsequent editions of 1937 and 1956. with this publication translated to English by Ronald Ball. Uniforms from 1700 (some even earlier) to 1937 are covered in text and illustration with the majority of the title devoted to Army attire and lesser sections for naval and aviation forces. Throughout uniforms are illustrated in b/w sketches of ranks of up to 17 figures, but usually 10 or a dozen. With almost 40 armies alone covered to scope of this book can be imagined, with two, Germany and Italy, being further described in regional or affiliation sections. 483 pages including glossary. The hard covers are scratched, marked, 4cm split at lower front spine edge, 3cm at back, 1cm each side at top, spine extremities bruised, corners bumped and worn. Ex-libris plate front pastedown, Text block generally VG with occasional marks and few very small ink marks. Page edges lightly grubby. A heavy book, may require additional postage.
