The first comprehensive guide on Autoimmune Gastritis.
Based on the interest in the scientific Chronic Atrophic Gastritis Series, the author released this Practical Guide as complimentary Volume Ill of the Series.
It aims to provide relevant insights for healthcare professionals in their daily practice, while also supporting educated patients who seek a deeper understanding of the disease with which they have been diagnosed.
Autoimmune gastritis (AIG) is an increasingly recognized but often overlooked cause of chronic atrophic gastritis. It can lead to vitamin B12 and iron deficiency, has important systemic consequences, and requires a different approach from the common, acute forms of gastritis.
This practical guide brings together the latest scientific understanding of AIG in a clear, structured and accessible way.
It explains the causes, mechanisms, symptoms, diagnosis and monitoring, and explores the wider ecological and physiological context, from the immune system and gastric microbiome to nutritional status, metabolic health and associated autoimmune conditions.
Evidence-based strategies for management and functional support are discussed, including diet, lifestyle, medical treatment, and an extensive list of selected supplements, along with their potential benefits and limitations. Practical guidance is provided for both healthcare professionals and educated patients, with a focus on real-world decision-making.
The guide also examines future directions, including emerging therapies and research opportunities, and places AIG within the broader spectrum of chronic atrophic gastritis, covering all relevant phenotypes and contributing factors.
300 pages with latest insights, 25 full-color illustrative figures, as well as templates to be used in daily practice..
Overall, this guide is positioned to be a trusted and practical reference for healthcare professionals and educated patients, offering a comprehensive, integrated and balanced perspective on autoimmune gastritis.
