"Understanding Abnormal Psychology" appeals to professors who teach an applied multicultural approach that is more rigorous and integrative (as compared to the "Essentials" version that addresses the need for a lower level, less expensive text). The strengths of this comprehensive text lie in its multicultural coverage, research and promotion of critical-thinking skills.
