Jai and his friends at a boarding school join forces with shape-shifters in their attempt to defeat the headmaster who steals the souls and futures of the students. Reprint.

The usually practical, logical Jai is instinctively nervous about going to Nexhoath--a family-style boarding school for boys and girls. It's bad enough that his parents are leaving him behind when they leave the country, but the strange people and weird goings-on at the school quickly confirm that his instincts were correct. As Jai is transported into a parallel life by a magical, shapeshifting cat who teaches him about other worlds that exist in the grounds of Nexhoath, it becomes obvious that he is there for a reason and that everyone is depending on him to save them. But from what?

Under the Cat's Eye is a thrilling fantasy adventure story that gathers tremendous pace as the young Jai begins to differentiate between dreams and reality. Rubenstein's sparkling prose lights up the magical other-worlds of Nexhoath, bringing dreams to life and blurring the lines between fantasy and reality. --Susan Harrison
