Paperback. Unconventional Pastor: How Jail, Jesus, and a Microphone Changed Everything is the raw, unfiltered story of Pastor Kyle Fields-a man whose path to ministry didn't begin in a seminary, but in a jail cell. With a past marked by addiction, mental health struggles, and rejection from the very churches he once called home, Kyle shares how God met him in the darkest places and called him to build something radically different: a church without walls, without judgment, and without pretense. This isn't your typical Christian memoir. It's not dressed up in church language or filled with shiny stories of instant redemption. Instead, it's a brutally honest journey through the realities of schizophrenia, substance abuse, homelessness, betrayal, and spiritual trauma-countered by moments of divine clarity, inmate-led Bible studies, and a calling too loud to ignore. With chapters like When the Church Hurt Me More Than the World Ever Did and Bible Study in Chains, Kyle invites readers to rethink what it means to be "called." He breaks down the myth that ministry only belongs to the polished, the educated, or the religious elite. Through stories of COs giving ministry advice, transgender inmates finding hope, and a virtual church born from concrete walls, Unconventional Pastor challenges everything you thought you knew about what a pastor looks like-and where a church can be found. For the outcasts. For the skeptics. For the believers who are tired of fluff sermons and fake smiles. This book is for you.Whether you've been burned by religion or you've never set foot in a church, this memoir offers something rare: a glimpse of God's love that doesn't demand perfection-just honesty.Because sometimes, the most powerful ministry starts in the most unexpected places.
