New York: Frederick A. Stokes, 1901. Third Edition. Very Good/no dust jacket . B. West Clinedinst, Illustrator. Third Edition, decorated American trade binding. Verylean red cloth boards with bright unchipped gold decoration and lettering on cover and spine, very small spot at base corner of spine (size of small pea). No fading or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Previous owner name beautifully penned on front free endpaper; small ink-stamped name and address at top corner of front pastedown. Illustrated with a frontispiece by B. West Clinedinst. Old newspaper article on The Cardiff Giant Hoax from the Utica, NY Herald (10-22-02) is tipped in on blank back of Contents page; has caused some browning to opposite page, which is "Author's Note". Otherwise pages and edges clean and bright, with gilt top page edges. 305 pages.
