7 1/2 inches x 9 1/2 in. halftitle, with the reverse reading: "The American law, with the grace of past ages, permits any rascal to pirate these pages."; design title-page in red and black; quotation page; "To the Reader", illustrated with 23 woodcut type portraits of Artists whose works are in The Uffizi Gallery, each accompanied by verses regarding the Artist. Page borders are printed in red. Gray paper wrappers, with design in red & black on the front cover, Olive Press device on the back. The front cover has been repasted, chipping, wear to the cover edges, age-related tanning to pages. From the collection of William G. Mather (1857-1951), a Cleveland, Ohio based book collector and world traveler, who was associated with the Cleveland Museum of Art. Inscribed in ink on the front flyleaf: Best Wishes for 1911--from J.S.P. Florence Dec. 10th [19]10., J.S.P. has penciled a note to a sentence in Arthur Maquairie's preface: ("Respectable folk will have nothing to say for it but to thumb the book through and refuse to pay for it. A.M"), the pencil note reads: "Among whom count me! J.S.P.". Seller Inventory # M-476

The sewn binding is loose and has separated from the wrappers; at least one page has come loose.
