How can I gain a greater sense of purpose in life through an improved connection to other people?
In Ubiquitous Relativity: My Truth is Not the Truth, Ian Winer's philosophy lays a fresh roadmap for anyone searching for a more meaningful life by examining the senses and emotions unique to each of us and challenging our long-held beliefs about the world and everyone in it by pausing on our own judgements. Ian invites each of us to take a leap of faith into the unknown, the uncomfortable, and the unfamiliar.
Revealing how surviving an abusive household in childhood incorrectly informed him of a world that was limited and confinedƒƒ‚‚ƒ‚‚]ƒƒ‚‚ƒ‚‚€ƒƒ‚‚ƒ‚‚] in confronting his own truth, he opened up to the possibilities that everyone possesses their own truth revealing the twofold illusion of universality. The first illusion is that people sense the world in exactly the same way. The second illusion is that people react emotionally to those senses in precisely the same expectation.
Ubiquitous Relativity considers a less conventional way, yet simplistic testament, to make a difference in the world - a world that can be less frightening and more hopeful.
At the heart of Winer's Ubiquitous Relativity philosophy, which he credits for his success, is the ability to "push pause on judgement" and focus on the fun of the human experience in every piece of analysis. He was so moved by this philosophy that he decided to leave a career in finance after 22 years to pursue it in greater detail. In other words, he decided it was time to "walk the walk."
A West Point graduate, Winer was the first United States Military Academy graduate to play in the Division 1 Ice Hockey All-Star game. Both the military and his Ice Hockey had conditioned him to take the order, reflecting the old adage "Mine is not to question why, mine is to do or die." But this approach to life began to change, as the truth behind why things happen and how the truth as he knew it was not necessarily the truth of the universe.. A survivor of abuse, addiction, and "fear based" living, Winer spent his early years searching for the "answer" to life's major question of "Can I make a difference in this life?" An epiphany in the form of "Ubiquitous Relativity" changed his entire perception of the world. Living through multiple boom and bust cycles and personally going from penthouse to outhouse, Winer's story is one of rising from the ashes where we can all take heed.
Ian Winer and his wife Kelly have committed to a year of volunteering around the world and trying to make a difference in the lives of others. These experiences, which he will chronicle on this website, will serve as an avenue to test his new theory of "Ubiquitous Relativity." His debut book, called "My"Truth is not "The" Truth, describing the journey that led him to this life pivot, is scheduled for publication in the summer of 2019. When back in Los Angeles, Ian and Kelly will continue to live a life of service while saving time to host a few more of their world-renowned costume parties and walking the beach with Ulysses, their crazy Black Labrador named after another fine West Point graduate.
