First published in 1984, this book is the reprinting with amendments from 1986, 511 pages. "Nature provides many examples of physical systems which are described by deterministic equations of motion, but which nevertheless exhibit non-predictable behavior. The detailed description of turbulent motions remains prehaps the outstanding unsolved problem of classical physics. In recent years, however, a new theory has been formulated which succeeds in making quanative predictions describing certain tranistions to turbulence. Its significance lies in its possible applications to large classes (often very dissimliar )of nonlinear systems. 41 collected papers are presented in this book, and it is the first time that so many papers on this subject have been gathered together from a wide range of sources into a single volume." FINE SOFTCOVER. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
