Add to basketThe Challenge Facing International Nurses
The NMC CBT Part A numeracy examination requires international nurses to answer 14 of 15 drug calculation questions correctly within 30 minutes. This 93% pass threshold leaves no margin for error. Qualified nurses from India, the Philippines, Nigeria, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, and countries worldwide fail this examination each year despite calculating medications safely throughout their clinical careers. The challenge is not mathematical ability. The challenge is demonstrating that ability under timed examination conditions with UK nursing registration depending on every answer.
Comprehensive NMC CBT Numeracy Preparation
This crash course provides structured preparation specifically designed for international nurses seeking UK nursing registration. The systematic approach builds drug calculation skills progressively from metric conversions through advanced infusion calculations. Content addresses the needs of nurses trained in different educational systems while focusing precisely on what the NMC Computer Based Test actually examines. Every chapter, example, and practice question serves one purpose: examination success.
600+ Practice Questions with Complete Solutions
The extensive question bank covers every drug calculation type tested in NMC CBT Part A numeracy. Questions span unit conversions between grams, milligrams, and micrograms. Tablet calculations address single doses and divided daily doses. Liquid oral medication questions require volume calculations from various stock concentrations. Injection calculations cover intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intravenous bolus preparations. Intravenous infusion questions test flow rate programming in millilitres per hour and gravity drip rate calculations in drops per minute. Weight-based dosing questions include simple mg/kg calculations through complex mcg/kg/min continuous infusions. Fluid balance questions require accurate computation across multiple input and output sources. Every question includes step-by-step solutions explaining the calculation method.
Four Complete Mock Examinations
Timed mock tests replicate NMC CBT conditions precisely. Each contains 15 questions designed for 30-minute completion matching the actual examination format at Pearson VUE testing centres. Detailed answer keys with full worked solutions enable accurate self-assessment. Performance tracking tools identify weak areas requiring additional practice before examination day.
The STOPS Error Prevention System
Systematic answer verification catches mistakes before submission. Five error categories receive detailed analysis: conversion errors between metric units, formula inversion mistakes, arithmetic calculation errors, inappropriate rounding, and unit format omissions. Targeted recovery drills address each error type. Clinical sense checks provide realistic ranges for tablets, injection volumes, IV flow rates, and drip rates.
Examination Day Strategies
Practical guidance covers time management during Part A, effective use of the on-screen calculator, answer formatting requirements, and techniques for managing test anxiety. A quick reference formula card consolidates essential equations for final review. Clear guidance on NMC resit procedures provides direction for candidates requiring additional attempts.
Your Path to UK Nursing Registration
International nurses bring essential skills and experience to UK healthcare. The NMC CBT numeracy section verifies mathematical competence required for safe medication administration. This crash course ensures that competence demonstrated daily in clinical practice translates into examination success.
