Two purple ticket sheets, each H 4 inches x L 3 inches, for the "Home Lecture Course," a series of lectures presented in Allentown [Pennsylvania] for December 1873 and January 1874. Single-sided printing only. Matching original sheets comprised of three tickets and a header section. Header denotes "One Dollar | Court House, Allentown. | Home Lecture Course. | Season Ticket - Admit One." Event tickets printed in sequential order with Lecture #5 ticket adjoining header with #4 and #3 tickets thereby descending; peeling wear and perforated bottom edges of both #3 tickets indicate that ticket stubs for the first two lectures were undoubtedly once attached but were redeemed and therefore no longer present. Lecture #3 ticket is for Hon. Robt. E. Wright [Robert E. Wright] and titled "Politics and Politicians" to be presented Thursday Evening, December 18, 1873; Lecture #4 by Rev. DeWitt C. Byllesby with subject unspecified but scheduled for Tuesday Evening, December 30, 1873; and Lecture #5 by Hon. Edward Harvey again with an unspecified subject and scheduled for Thursday Evening, January 8th, 1874. Online research turns up Allentown attorney and judge Robert Emmet Wright (1810-1886) as the most likely possibility for the first lecturer but his son Robert Emmet Wright Jr. (1847-1912) is a potential candidate too. Rev. DeWitt C. Byllesby (1826-1891) was a Protestant Episcopal minster in Pennsylvania. The final lecturer is likely Allentown attorney Edward Harvey (1843-1913) who, in 1878, was appointed President Judge of Pennsylvania's 31st Judicial District.…
