Synopsis:
A collection of artwork of the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore area of Southern California by husband and wife. The artists present oil paintings and pen & ink drawings created on location during their travels, each artist offering their own perspective. Donna works with layers of oil paint and Joe uses the simplicity of line with pen and ink. "Two Visions" is the collection exhibited at the Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center at King Gillette Ranch in Southern California.
About the Author: DONNA JEAN GOLDSTEIN IS A DEDICATED ARTIST DOING PLEIN-AIRE AND STUDIO LANDSCAPE PAINTING. SHE IS CURRENTLY ASSOCIATED WITH ALLIED ARTISTS OF THE SANTA MONICA MOUNTAINS AND SEASHORE, GIVING HER THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXHIBIT AND SUPPORT ENVIRONMENTAL AND CONSERVATION GROUPS. AS A NATURALIST WITH THE NATIONAL PARKS, SHE WAS INFLUENCED BY FRANK HAVORE, AND LED INTERPRETIVE HIKES IN THE SANTA MONICA MOUNTAINS. MANY OF HER PAINTINGS WERE INSPIRED BY FAMILY CAMPING TRIPS TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BEACHES. HER WORK STRONGLY REFLECTS HER DESIGN STUDIES AT UCLA WITH JODY GREENWALD AND HER EXPERIENCES WITH THE ZEN CONCEPTS OF DR. KOWICHI KAWANA AT THE JAPANESE GARDEN. JOE GOLDSTEIN IS A RETIRED AEROSPACE ENGINEER WHO ENJOYS HIKING IN NATURE. iN HIS WORDS: "I AM A SKETCHER, AND THAT IS THE REALISM OF MY MOMENT- LOOKING AND SHAPING MY SKETCHES AS THEY IMPINGE ON MY SENSES.
