Print on Demand. This book proposes a philosophical exploration of the relationship between science and religion through the principles of unity, order, and causation. The author, renowned for his deep thinking in philosophical matters and his rank as a leading metaphysician, examines the claims of science and its proponents that it holds authority over the realm of religious belief. The author disputes such authority, arguing that science cannot contradict religious belief because the two are, in essence, compatible. I will assume that I shall be allowed to take a somewhat different, and in one sense a wider s00pe, and to discuss some fundamental principles, which have in my judgment a very important bearing on the purposes for which this Institute is founded.
