Print on Demand. This book is a first-hand account of the 1857 Indian Rebellion through the eyes of one of the very few government personnel who successfully held out against the Sepoy mutiny. The author was stationed in Arrah, a small civil station in the district of Shahabad, when news arrived that fellow soldiers had mutinied in Delhi and massacred the European population. With the rest of the government personnel in Arrah, the author remained at his post, organizing public business, improving security, and coordinating with neighboring districts to maintain calm amidst the growing unrest. This book is an invaluable account of a pivotal moment in Indian history from the perspective of those actively involved in quelling the rebellion and maintaining order. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
