Item description from seller

A significant photographic record of the Lewis and Clark Trail, this limited issue is one of only 350 numbered copies signed by the authors. The Salisburys utilized the original expedition journals to retrace the route, documenting surviving landmarks through extensive photography and drawings. This edition represents a mid-century effort to visually bridge the historical narrative of the 'Two Captains' with the modern topography of the American West. KEY FEATURES +++ Visuals: Illustrated throughout with photographs, drawings, and map endpapers. +++ Limitation: Copy No. 157 of 350 copies; signed by Albert and Jane Salisbury on the limitation page. +++ Binding: Publisher's cloth; octavo (10.75 inches tall). +++ Imprint: Superior Publishing Company, Seattle, 1950. +++ Specs: 235 pages including index. CONDITION: Near Fine in a Very Good dust jacket and slipcase. The book is tight and square with crisp internals. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE – Albert and Jane Salisbury were dedicated chroniclers of the Pacific Northwest and the Oregon Trail.
