Item description from seller
Preface: The Pratimoksa Sutra and the Bhiksukarmavakya which were separately published more than two decades back in the Indian Historical Quarterly (now defunct) are now being published under the caption " Two Buddhist Vinaya Texts in Sanskrit" with very slight modifications only. The former contains a set of rules to be observed by the monks of the order, while the latter describes the stages of progress through which an aspirant is required to pass befor he becomes a monk of the order. Both the treatises are long out of print, but they are in great demand. They, however, exist in Pali and the present ones are their Sanskrit versions agreeing fairly in their contents.
