This VG+ quality book was published in 1918 by Hurst & Company. It is 7-5/8" tall and has 302 numbered pages of text followed by 4 unnumbered pages of ads. This book is square, extremely clean, free of edge dings with the lower corners lightly bumped without fabric damage; head and heel of the spine are also lightly bumped, also without fabric damage; the bottom edges have only light wear. Unlike many books in this series, this one does not have any fabric deterioration. The front panel illustration, in red, black and gray, is not faded and is virtually undamaged (see photo); the spine is also undamaged and very clean; it does have an unsightly crease running the full length of the spine. The interior is free of writing, stray marks, stains of any sort and page damage of any type. The hinges are quite strong and not damaged. The paper is very lightly toned and very flexible and not at all brittle. The VG- quality jacket is in one piece and not taped; it is also rather clean, with the front panel illustration pretty much undamaged and only very lightly soiled. It has small chips at all four corners and wear /paper loss along both front and rear folds; it has a small chip at the heel of the spine that takes out most of the publisher's name; two chips at the head of the spine that do not take out any lettering; and a small chip at the top of the rear panel (see photo).
