Item description from seller

Post-Civil War New York saw the emergence of the Tweed Ring--Boss Tweed and his associates were a model of political and financial corruption. Callow's analysis of William Tweed and his iron grip on the city was first published in 1966 and was reprinted by the Easton Press in this beautifully bound edition in 1990. Full brown leather binding with four raised spine bands and five compartments. The cover and spine decorations are in 22 kt gold, all edges are gilt; silk moire end papers with a white silk ribbon bookmark; printed on archival acid-free paper with smyth sewing. The publisher's "Notes from History" is loosely laid in. A nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings and no bookplates or other ownerhip notes. ; Leather-bound Library of American History Series; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 351 pages.
