Turning Point is a collection of ten original short stories about exactly that moment — and, more importantly, about the deeply unglamorous part right after it, where a person has to figure out what "the life I actually want" means before rent is due.
Nobody in this book wins the lottery. Nobody goes viral on purpose (one person goes viral by accident, and it's the best thing that happens to her). Nobody gets a montage. What they get instead is one brave decision on one ordinary day — and the funny, honest, occasionally egg-covered mess that follows.
Meet the ten:
Ethan gets out-coded by an AI before his coffee finishes brewing and goes looking for his grandfather's chisels.
Zoe runs social media for a skincare brand and tells the truth on camera exactly once — "honestly? it's mostly the lighting" — and it outperforms everything she ever rehearsed.
Jordan leaves a six-figure offer letter unsigned for six days like it's a group chat she's afraid to reply to, until her cousin asks one question that settles it.
Miles has a 4.97 rideshare rating and one joke that works on every passenger, and finds out what happens when the passengers can leave.
Robert spends twenty-seven years on a factory floor and ends up in the one room he swore he'd never stand in front of.
David wins the biggest case of his career, eats cold pad thai alone from a cardboard box, and finally hears what his father has been asking.
Priya cries in a stairwell over a hotel lobby that isn't even ugly, then climbs onto a roof with a pigeon audience and designs something alive.
Sara stares down a blank resume for forty minutes and loses — then discovers her real qualifications were never on paper.
Vanessa has drafted a hundred and eleven divorce settlements and cries at a wedding, then gets ordained online "the way a person buys a treadmill."
Marcus gets caught talking to himself for eleven minutes straight in a truck cab, and his daughter tells him what it's actually called.
Every story stands alone. Read one in the fifteen minutes before bed or all ten in a single afternoon. They're written to be funny, because real life is, and honest about the hard parts, because pretending otherwise is exhausting.
If you've ever stood at the edge of your own turning point — or just stared at a blank document and lost — this book was written for you.
