He grew up on the wrong side of the tracks with a troubled background. She grew up in a middle-class family with strict parents. A few summers filled with innocent love and hope quickly turns upside down. He wakes up to find she and her family have moved, without so much as a goodbye. When life sends them down different paths, they try to hold onto the memories of the past. She's trying to survive an abusive husband, while he’s trying to hold onto whatever freedom he has left.
Will they be able to overcome the obstacles in their way? When their lives cross paths again will they be able to hold on to what they had?
Do you believe someone can meet their true love at 8? Most people would say no. Even as she grew up and life served her more than a handful of challenges, she would have probably agreed with you. Yet I knew in 1995 at the age of 8 that I was in love with her. No matter what direction life leads us, Paige will always be my one true love. -Jace
Let's be realistic. Being barely 11, I didn't have much control over my circumstances, and even less ability to change the trajectory of our paths.
Moments, choices, decisions... whatever you want to call them... it's hard for me to regret them completely because each of them brought me exactly where I am today. A kid has almost zero power of choice. They are at the mercy of their parents. As a girl being raised in my strict parents' house, I had even less choice, if that's possible. -Paige
