Losing two breasts to cancer in one year is devastating enough. But then the unimaginable happens, and author Kari L. Ward suddenly must face losing a third breast in the same year—and all the emotional and physical fallout that comes with being “lopsided.”
My Triple Mastectomy chronicles Ward’s personal battle against breast cancer—and against the aftermath of her supposedly routine treatment. And as the title itself suggests, she writes with humor about one of the most terrifying and difficult things a woman can face.
In the course of one year, Ward survived six surgeries. And throughout all the pain, suffering, doubt, and fear about the future, she saw the hand of God leading her through the darkest times. In this book, Ward opens up her medical records—and her heart—in hopes of encouraging others who face this daunting diagnosis.
Full of truth, honesty, and wisdom My Triple Mastectomy speaks hope and encouragement into the life of anyone diagnosed with cancer or who feels like they are being tested to the limits and wants to know that they are not alone in their battle.
Kari L. Ward graduated from the US Air Force Academy with a BS in biology in 1993. She served for twenty years in the US Air Force, with over eight of those years in active duty as a navigator on the KC-135 and the remaining time as an admissions liaison officer for the Air Force Reserves.
Ward married the love of her life, Joe. Together they have four wonderful children. God uses Ward’s family to teach her lessons about himself on a daily basis.
Based in the Colorado Springs, Colorado, area, Ward loves God’s splendor displayed in the great outdoors. In her spare time, she enjoys camping, hiking, running, swimming, skiing, snowshoeing, biking, cooking, playing guitar, and singing. Ward is also passionate about practicing her Japanese language skills, which she picked up while her family was stationed in Japan.
