Who were the Greatest Hitters? This book relies strictly on the numbers-Fifth in batting average in 1999 is the same as it was in 1888-it means only four players in the the league had a higher batting average. His top five are Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Hank Aaron, Ty Cobb and Lou Gehrig. He has Mays at 12, Jim Rice at 34 and and Billy Williams at 51. A fine book to compare eras. In very good condition. I have more than 150 books on the Best of Baseball and over 2,400 baseball publications in stock. Discounts available when you purchase multiple items on the same order.
