Print on Demand. This book is a tribute to David C. Broderick, a man who rose from humble beginnings as a stone-cutter's son to become a prominent figure in the fight against slavery's expansion in the United States. The author traces Broderick's life from his childhood in Washington, D.C., through his political career in California, and his tragic death in a duel with a pro-slavery advocate. The book explores the themes of liberty, equality, and the importance of individual courage in the face of adversity. It places Broderick's perjuangan as part of the larger struggle for racial justice in the United States, and his legacy as an inspiration to those who continue to fight for a more just and equitable society. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

- Political Theory and History
A moving look at a man shaped by hard work, steady integrity, and a pivotal era in American history. This biography traces the life of David C. Broderick—from a stone-cutter’s son to a respected U.S. senator—through a time when the nation wrestled with the expansion of slavery and the fate of the Union.
Written in accessible prose, the book weaves personal detail with political history to illuminate how one dedicated public figure confronted division, fought for liberty, and stood up for the laboring millions of the country. It offers a portrait of mission, courage, and the costs of standing for principle.
- Compelling narrative of a rooted, hardworking figure rising to national influence
- Context on key debates about slavery, statehood, and the balance of power in the early United States
- Vivid scenes that blend family memory with public events to show character under pressure
- Accessible nonfiction that connects personal ambition with larger political themes
Ideal for readers interested in 19th-century American politics, labor history, and biographies told through the lens of a principled public life.
