Item description from seller

The 8th Edition of the "bible" of trekking in Nepal, this book is co-written by veteran Nepal trekkers with more than 60 combined years of experience in the region. This edition reflects new political information and includes both popular and lesser-known trekking destinations. New features include expanded coverage of areas outside of the primary trekking routes, as well as of less-traveled routes near major trailheads; new details on trekking in the Everest, Annapurna, and Langtang regions; new "DIY" information for independent exploring: how to make contact with villagers, use local maps, find porters and guides, understand pricing guidelines, and arrange travel necessities such as water purification and meals. Paperback book includes color pictures, maps, diagrams, and descriptive information about trails and routes, lodging, food, and much more. Is a new copy gifted to the current owner by Stephen Bezruchka that was stored on the shelf. Shows no signs of use and is in near perfect condition. Spine intact and tight with slight spine separation on pg. 199. No writing. No page damage. 416 pages. Please review the listing photos as they form an important part of the description. The current owner, anthropologist and writer Don Messerschmidt, PhD (retired), is known for his research and writings in and on the Himalayas. He has published books and articles internationally since the 1960s when he first lived in Nepal as an American Peace Corps volunteer. He went on to enhance his understanding of Himalayan peoples and places as an independent researcher and on numerous consultancies. For over a half-century, he has been engaged in field studies, university professorships, and writing about the rich cultures of Bhutan, Nepal, North India, and Tibet. Along the way, he amassed an extensive library of Himalayan studies and has written several of his own, including two prize-winners. He has also been an editor for two regional magazines and has been called upon to review and pen chapters and forewords for Himalayan-oriented publications.…
