Don't Let a Dusty Album Become a Costly Mistake.
If you have inherited a stamp collection, you are likely feeling a mix of hope and overwhelming confusion. You want to honor the collector’s legacy, but you don't know if you’re holding a retirement fund or a box of colorful wallpaper.
In Treasure or Trash?, Frank Pérez, DBA—drawing on over 30 years of experience as a collector and philatelic juror—provides a clear, strategic lens for evaluating these items. Designed to be read in under an hour, this guide introduces the Quick-Scan Method, a 30-minute triage system that helps you quickly find the best material.
What you will discover inside:
- The "First Aid" Rules: Learn why you should never cut stamps off envelopes or use household tape.
- The Reality Check: Understand why age does not automatically equal value and how to avoid the "Catalog Myth".
- The "China" Exception: Identify specific modern stamps from the 1960s–1980s that are highly sought-after today.
- Exit Strategies: Choose the right path for your material, whether through dealers, auction houses, or private collectors.
About the Author: Frank Perez, DBA, is a philatelist and art collector who has served as a juror at national and international exhibitions. He holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from SDA Bocconi, which informs his analytical perspective on inherited collections. He leverages his background in innovation and venture finance to provide heirs with a structured framework for making informed decisions regarding their inherited material.
