Print on Demand. This book is a highly original and provocative exploration of the concept of metempsychosis (the migration of the soul from one body to another) - a concept with an extensive history, particularly in classical philosophy. The author's vivid imaginary journey using the technique of spirit possession in a historical context adds a new and distinctive approach to the subject of reincarnation. The first half of the book draws upon the author's empathy with historical figures to provide a rich series of simulated characterful narratives in which key historical events and people's motives are explored through the narrator's direct experience of being inhabited by their spirits. The second half of the book has a more personal focus, the narrator, inspired by the spirit of a notable English poet, metamorphoses into figures from his own life, examining key events and relationships, providing a rich vein of social history together with intimate personal insights. The author, drawing upon a wealth of knowledge and research, presents an inventive and illuminating discourse on humanity's enduring fascination with the idea of reincarnation and the possibility of an afterlife. Shining a light into history's darkened corners, this fictional memoir is bound to enthrall readers interested in the mysteries of reincarnation, history, and the human condition. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. …

This edition presents a fragment of a longer tale told in a quiet, intimate voice. A writer looks back on years of study, devotion to a delicate love, and a gradual turn toward introspection as the body weakens and memory deepens. Through personal anecdotes and meditations on faith, art, and the passage of time, the narrative blends mood, memory, and a subtle, wry humor.
What you’ll experience
- A vivid sense of place and period, from London to Beau Sejour and Twickenham.
- Characters drawn with warmth and quiet complexity, especially Lucy and the narrator’s circle.
- Musings on mortality, faith, and the mystery of the later years of life.
- Epigrammatic turns and humane observations that keep the voice both gentle and observant.
Ideal for readers of literary fiction who enjoy reflective, character-driven narratives and a touch of classical allusion.

Product Description
Riters of what have been called Utopian Ro mances need not accuse their rivals of plagiary, since they are all treading in the track of giants like Aristophanes and Swift. But it may be well to state that I had not read The Coming Race until these volumes were passing through the press, and that I have never seen Erewhon.
