Dr. Boone-Thornton infuses both her personal and professional experiences in the fields of mental health and higher education to help readers understand how physically and emotionally debilitating it is to mask emotions. Consider the following. What are you covering up Now, before you say.nothing, think about it. What are you covering up? Now, before you say...nothing, think about it. Do you let people see your real, full, authentic self? Or do you find yourself only showing people what you want them to see? Why? Probably because masking emotions is something that you have been taught, modeled, or it may just be a learned behavior.
This book provides a straightforward explanation on how the devastation of COVID-19 uncovered emotions that we (as a society), or you, have been masking for years. The mask, although invisible, is perceived as a layer of protection. It hides what we consider flawed, broken, damaged, and imperfect. We all have things in our past that we don’t want others to see or know about.
This book will help you take an in-depth analysis of what influences the masking process as well as the illusions you, or others, may portray. Emotional wellness is the goal, but the transformation must start with you!
