Closer to the Light - The New York Times bestseller by the distinguished team of Dr. Melvin Morse and science writer Paul Perry - broke new ground in our spiritual and scientific understanding of near-death experiences. Acclaimed as a "masterpiece of understanding," Closer to the Light studied children who had been resuscitated and returned from death only to tell miraculous stories about what they experienced as they died.
Transformed by the Light breaks new ground again, this time by examining the changes that take place in those who have had near-death experiences. Based on the results of the largest study ever done of people who have had near-death experiences, Transformed by the Light proves that those who return from the brink of death are profoundly changed for the better - spiritually and physically - for the rest of their lives, and that these documented changes provide deeper peace and understanding for all who come in contact with them.
The Transformations Study focused on more than four hundred subjects from all walks of life- housewives, secretaries, lawyers, doctors, salespeople - all of whom had near-death experiences as children. Each subject was given a battery of psychological tests and interviewed at length. Medical records were examined and sometimes even friends were interviewed. The results were astounding:
People who have near-death experiences are healthier and have fewer psychosomatic complaints (like headaches and stomachaches).
Psychologically they are happier, have stronger family ties, more "zest" for living, and a greatly diminished fear of death.
A significant increase in psychic abilities was found in almost all of those who had near-death experiences. Many of them were able to tell when certain events would take place, day after day. Some could "see" events happening to friends or even strangers in vivid detail hours before they happened.
The Transformations Study provided the scientific data to propose a new theory of brain/mind interaction. It links physics, medicine, neuroscience, and the human spirit in a profound new understanding of life and death. Inspirational, scientific, and deeply compassionate, Transformed by the Light continues Morse and Perry's remarkable explorations.

Dannion Brinkley uses the psychic and spiritual gifts he received from his two near-death experiences to help the dying and needy.
