Item description from seller

Original illustrated wraps 22 x 28cm. iv + 43pp including many maps, charts, and b/w photos, with fold-outs. Covers very good, interiors near fine. This is one of McDonnell Douglas' special reports, which it published on average 3 times a year, "aimed mainly at the market areas which do not receive a great deal of attention from most of the research organizations and aeronautical journals" (p43). This one is timely, as it reflects the impact of the transfer of political and economic control from the colonial powers to newly independent African states. "Trans-Saharan" refers to any flights that cross the Sahara between Europe and West, Central, East, SE and South African states. It includes a history of those routes, progress post-war, development, maps, forecasts and prospects. Maps show their historical development for 1948, 1956, 1964, 1972, and for European and African airlines, 1978. Rare - 5 institutional holdings on Worldcat, none on Jisc.
