Print on Demand. This book documents the evolution of the New York and Brooklyn Bridge Railway's maximum passenger capacity amidst the rapidly expanding development of the early 20th century. The author, George Leverich, begins by noting the limitations of the existing railway, which was far from sufficient to meet the growing demands of the two great cities it connected. Leverich thoroughly examines the underlying factors governing the railway's capacity, including the number of train lines, the frequency of service, and the efficiency of terminal platforms. He considers the potential increases in capacity that could be realized by implementing various improvements and innovations, such as the adoption of four-car trains and the implementation of new transfer switches. Leverich also addresses the need for expanding passenger station capacity to accommodate the increasing number of passengers, exploring options for new station designs and layouts. The book concludes with a discussion of the broader significance of these improvements, emphasizing their role in facilitating the safe, comfortable, and efficient transit of passengers between New York and Brooklyn. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
