Tracks from Nowhere takes the reader into the remote and impoverished coal-mining community of New River Gorge, West Virginia. The year is 1936. Hank O'Neill, a ruggedly handsome miner bears the burden of a promise that not only threatens his life, but his marriage to his lovely wife, Louise. Numerous times she had pleaded with him to leave so they could start a new life together. Hank refused her, because he was bound by an oath.
Louise is desperate to make her escape; but in the isolated Appalachian Mountains of post-depression America, a way out is difficult to come by. Gambling everything, Louise makes a desperate plight to procure a better life and to fulfill the destiny that haunts her dreams. Hank said, "To hell with the promise" and hops aboard a south-bound freight train and begins a perilous journey to win back the amazing woman he loves.
Color stories by delightful and deeply sensitive characters provide a rich texture enhancing the story with humor and tenderness. Hank and Louise's parallel paths twist and turn until they each find themselves in the arms of another. Will their fragile love survive?
Ripping through history, Tracks from Nowhere offers a nostalgic peek into the era of steam engine trains. Tangled in poignant emotions and heartache, survival and redemption, this book weaves a beautiful tapestry of love, forgiveness, and the reward for having the courage to live one's dream.
