Jim’s new book explains cutting edge, investigative techniques as applied by the natural history detective to wildlife mysteries. These skills and knowledge are used to solve track scene cases including animal depredation, environmental assessments and impact statements, finding rare species, and more.
Track Scene Investigation: Forensic Wildlife Tracking shows how to study tracks, scats and other clues using detailed digital methods for field, plaster cast and camera phone evidence. TSI makes use of image processing programs, such as Photoshop and GIMP, to enhance images, make comparative images, detect and identify clues, measure diagnostic dimensions and deduce possible species identity and stories.
br>TSI reviews in detail 45 real cases submitted to Dr. Halfpenny’s company, Track Scene Investigation. Each case reveals insight into species identification, confusions and errors, research techniques, and final conclusions. TSI emphasizes quality data collection and methods including minimum outline measurements, plaster casting and photography.
br>IF YOU WANT TO BE A QUALITY TRACKER, YOU NEED THIS BOOK!
