"God made the country, and man made the town" so wrote the Poet William Cowper who lived for 19 years at Olney in Bucks and 10 at Weston Underwood a village nearby. This books deals with Olney and the surrounding villages and Cowper and his literary contempories also in the neighbourhood. 280 pages with wood engravings, one of which is an excellent view of the vicarage at Olney. Green cloth, spine ends rubbed, internal hinges cracked. . Inscriptions to half title, viz. the Vicar of Olney 1943.

The shop is named after Wadard, one of Farningham's Domesday landlords, a henchman of Bishop Odo, William the Conquerers brother,and featured on the Bayeaux tapestry.
