Book Description Hippolyte Arnoux Photographer, Port Said Egypt. Condition: Very Good. Two good photographs on one mount, of archaeological and historical Near East interest; one a view of these architectural remains and the other a scenic view taken at some height of this area of Cairo; with the photographer's title, name & numbers at bottom of images; no date and circa 1880; Hippolyte Arnoux, active in Port Said Egypt from about 1860s on, worked with Antonio Beato for a time early on and possibly also with the Zagaki Bros.; Well known for his Suez Canal imagery and Egyptian types and costumes. (ref. Perez, "Focus East: Early Photography in the Near East 1839-1885); images 8 " x 10 1/2" approximate size; cardstock mount adds about 1" border surrounding; photo mounted on original buff white cardstock mount; a little wear to the mount card, foxing, bending to board; images with a bit of fading and still in very good condition and interesting.
