Vol.#1 in the second Tom Swift series, which was comprised of 33 volumes written under the pseudonym Victor Appleton II. Originally published in 1954, this book is one of the original blue tweed cloth-covered books with wrap-around pictorial DJs, so it is a First Edition, but slightly later printing, listing to TS#3 in front matter & on rear flap & back cover of DJ. In 208 pages with a plain frontispiece & blue/white endpapers by illustrator Graham Kaye. Book condition is VG-: very clean, binding straight & strong, hinges intact, pages creamy white with very mild tanning/dust dulling to outside edges, but unmarked. Moderate-heavy rubbing to extremities & bumped corners. The unclipped DJ is all there, but downgraded to Fair due to many missing chips & holes, significant chipping to edges; nicely protected in new mylar cover Free!Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Originally published in 1954, this book is part of the second Picture Cover series from the 1960s, in the original Blue spine format, not the later Gold spine edition (see our listing #019834 for a copy of that edition), with decorative paper over boards, in 208 pages with a plain frontispiece, endpapers, & internal drawings by illustrator Graham Kaye. It is a later printing, listing to book #18 in both front matter & on back cover. Condition is just Good: generally very clean, binding straight & strong, hinges intact, pages creamy white with very mild tanning/dust dulling to outside edges. Former owner's name in pen on second free endpaper, else unmarked. Heavy rubbing to extremities, especially at both ends of spine & all corners. NO DJ, as issued.
