Sarah Maycock explores the meaning of family through a collection of animal similes and poetic prose, imagined with sublime watercolour illustrations that perfectly capture the special bonds we all share. Our family can hold us steady like an otter and their pup, they can help us find our feet like a newborn giraffe taking its first steps, and they can teach us to embrace and share our feelings, as elephants practice in their herds. Exploring messages of love, comfort and safety, these poems bring to light the lessons shared between family, and the strength they give us to strike out on our own in the world. This heart-warming, beautifully illustrated picture book is perfect for sharing and reading aloud together with a loved one.

About the Author
Sarah Maycock studied Illustration at Kingston University and in 2011 was selected as an It's Nice That Graduate. Notably, in 2018, she was commissioned to create a series of illustrations for the Natural History Museum's Whales exhibition in London. Having trained herself to draw animals from nature documentaries, her unique ability to capture a creature's characteristics or the forces of nature in just a few swoops of ink is incomparable and truly impressive. Sarah's book Sometimes I Feel... won the ALCS Educational Writers' Award in 2021. She lives in Hastings, UK.
