"I found myself considerably and for the first time under the influence of the Nonesuch Press books, which show a variety of treatment and a versatility of genius to be found in no other collection of books conceived by a signle designer. I felt an urge inspired by his [Sir Francis Meynell's] books to introduce more variety into my printing. Together and Alone was only one of several which were largely experimental, and introduced many unusual features." (Christopher Sandford, in Cockalorum). With 10 wood engravings by John O'Connor. Copy no. 183 of 500 printed on Arnold's mould-made paper. Cockalorum 165. Interior fine, slight age-toning to cloth, with a few tiny spots. Overall a clean, bright and well-preserved copy.
