Why do we get trapped in abusive relationships, left with nothing but a hope that things will change? Why do we let someone who should love and respect us belittle, intimidate, and rob us of our very essence, our souls? This book asks these difficult but necessary questions. Dr. Lucy Papillon shares her own, first hand experience with just such an emotionally abusive relationship, and the journey that took her from the moment she finally asked the question, Why am I allowing this to happen? to her ultimate freedom and current life of inner strength. In this second edition of When Hope Can Kill, Dr. Lucy Papillon has revealed vital aspects of the healing process, which she has learned in the years since the first edition was released to many readers who were ready to take that first, courageous step toward healing. This book, simply put, is an amazing read - not only is it a page-turner of a story, but a powerful manual for healing. If you have ever loved and then had your heart shattered when you least expected it, this is your book, no matter where you are. When Hope Can Kill is mandatory reading. You cannot read this book and come away unchanged. --Chantel Westerman, Good Morning America An important and desperately needed book, aimed not just at the woman in an abusive relationship, but at anyone who has ever used hope for self-deception. --Susan Campbell, Ph.D., author of The Couple's Journey.…
