Hữu Thỉnh was born into a Confucian farming family in 1942 in Vinh Phue province, Vietnam. During the Vietnam-American War he served as a tank driver and later as a journalist. He lives in Hanoi where he is a member of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Editor-in-chief of Van Nghe, and General Secretary of the Vietnam Writers' Association. He has published a dozen books of poetry and prose to critical acclaim.
George Evans has published five collections of poetry in the US and England, and received writing fellowships from the NEA, Lannan Foundation, and California Arts Council. He edited the popular national contemporary poetry and arts project
Streetfare Journal, and has translated the poetry of Huu Thinh and Daisy Zamora. He lives in San Francisco.
Nguyen Qui Duc is a Vietnamese American radio broadcaster, writer, editor, and translator. He lived in the United States from 1975 to 2006. Currently, he lives in Hanoi.
