In today's high-stakes race, most companies report that their innovation efforts are failing. Modern corporate cultures optimize for busyness, longer hours, and heavier oversight.
Time + Space = Breakthrough offers a new operating model to establish and cultivate breakthrough thinking.
Developed through experience leading an AI moonshot at Google's Moonshot Factory, anchored in the research of cognitive neuroscience, the model provides load-bearing architecture to survive commercial pressure.
This is an operating manual for the modern leader. Within its pages, you will discover:
- The model: A method to balance deep execution with protected exploration, ensuring curiosity is anchored to core challenges.
- The neuroscience of breakthroughs: The cognitive functions that are the engine of innovation and how to keep them from stalling under stress.
- A practice of measurement: How to track the unprecedented using adaptive metrics to capture movement from raw curiosity to measurable value.
- Navigating antibodies: Practical strategies to identify and mitigate organizational resistance, stakeholder skepticism, and trust degradation.
- AI as a lever: How to use artificial intelligence to augment human creativity and automate routine, freeing the mind for the work only humans can do.
Whether you are a C-suite executive seeking a sustainable competitive edge, a leader looking to liberate your team's potential, or an individual exhausted by the "work harder" approach, Time + Space = Breakthrough provides the tools to move from innovation theatre to world-changing results.
Time + Space = Breakthrough is author Patricia Prewitt's debut book. She is an innovator and former general manager at Google X, The Moonshot Factory, where she led a moonshot project developing AI to design physical structures for silicon photonics. With a career spanning over twenty years across finance, education, and tech, she has navigated the intersection of high-stakes execution and radical innovation.
