Join the Time Traveller 800,000 years into the future in H. G. Wells’ beloved classic The Time Machine, complete with original illustrations.
When a Victorian gentleman known simply as The Time Traveller presents his daring theories to society, most scientists think him mad. But that could never stop him from seeking greatness.
After working tirelessly to prove his ideas, the Time Traveller builds an extraordinary invention: a machine that transports him 800,000 years into the future. In this journey through time, the Traveller discovers a wondrous utopia, where the descendants of the human race, the Eloi, seem to live in perfect harmony. They have no concept of work, they only eat fruit and spend most of their day playing games. But as the night falls, a disturbing reality comes to the surface…
The Time Traveller soon discovers another species descending from modern man with a much more sinister nature: the cunning Morlocks who live underground and only come out at night to terrorize the peaceful Eloi. Before long, the Time Traveller uncovers the truth about the fate of humanity and may never make it back to his time…
Published in 1895, this masterpiece of invention captivated readers on the threshold of a new century with its deep reflection on the consequences of society's progress and the fight for survival. Today, the Time Machine remains a fascinating quick read loved by readers of all ages.
