Add to basketUnpaginated picture book, illustrated by the author in colour and black and white. Bound in original pictorial paper-covered boards. The boards have minor wear along extremities, dust wrapper has a 2cm tear in top margin and an old/feint circular drink mark, some thumbing in text, else a good copy. First published 1944. I believe Ardizzone redrew some of the pictures and made some changes as the copyright is 1958, so this is a first edition, as such. After Tim's experience with a shipwreck, he is fortunate to meet 7-year-old Lucy and her exceedingly rich and easily persuaded guardian. Mr Grimes is only too happy to buy the steam launch Evangeline and let Tim hire a crew for him. When they rescue "a villainous looking lot" of sailors at sea, only the quick thinking of Tim and Lucy averts catastrophe. Ardizzone won the Kate Greenaway medal for Tim All Alone and the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award for Little Tim and the Brave Sea Captain.
