Paperback. THE SEA NEVER FORGETS. NEITHER DO THE DEAD.Elias Thorne thought he had left his old life behind.Once a feared pirate captain, Thorne has spent the last two years building something he never expected to possess: peace. The Scarlet Wake sails as a merchant ship, his crew has found its footing ashore, and beside Renee Ferrante, he has discovered a life worth protecting. But the sea has a long memory.Across the Caribbean, ships are vanishing. Their cargoes disappear. Their crews are slaughtered or left too terrified to speak. Behind the growing trail of wreckage is a name whispered from port to port-a pirate captain known as Blacktide. He is no ordinary raider. He does not plunder for wealth or kill for pleasure. His purpose is darker, his methods colder, and his reach more dangerous than anything the Royal Navy has encountered in years. When a Royal Navy officer arrives with an extraordinary offer-a formal pardon in exchange for Thorne's help hunting Blacktide-the former captain faces a choice that could cost him everything he has built. To refuse means allowing an unseen menace to spread across the waters he calls home. To accept means sailing back into a world he thought he had survived. With Renee at his side and the Scarlet Wake once more under sail, Thorne joins the hunt. But as the trail grows warmer, old wounds begin to reopen, loyalties are tested, and the line between hunter and hunted grows perilously thin. Some debts are paid in gold. Others demand blood. And some reckonings reach into the past, where the truth can be more devastating than any blade. In a sea ruled by ambition, betrayal, and the ghosts of men long thought lost, one captain must confront the past before it destroys everything he has left.Tides of Reckoning is the second book in Ryan Holbrook's Tides series-a sweeping historical pirate adventure of naval warfare, dangerous alliances, buried truths, and the unforgiving price of revenge.
