A first printing of a softcover reprint edition of General George A. Forsyth's account of the 1868 Battle of Beecher Island, as well as other skirmishes between the US Army and various Indian tribes. The General also includes his eyewitness account of the surrender of Confederate forces at Appomattox Court House. With several black & white illustrations by Rufus F. Zogbaum and an introduction by David Dixon. This work first published by Harper & Brothers in 1900. --- In stiff wraps with hand-colored image of a Zogbaum drawing of a battle scene. --- A clean, tightly-bound, bright copy, though with mild creasing and some curling to cover edges.; Small Octavo - 7-1/2 to 8 in. tall; xxii, 199 pages.
