Paperback. Angela is thirteen years old, and she just died. But no one's told her yet.She wakes wandering the halls of a Victorian mansion, her memories hazy, searching for a family that can no longer see or hear her. She isn't alone: something far older and far darker inhabits this threshold between the living and the dead, and it has been waiting. In the world of the living, her mother and grandmother begin to sense presences that shouldn't exist. Father Dominic suspects they're facing something beyond the reach of his faith. When they turn to a paranormal investigator, a woman who can speak with spirits, and an expert in spectral technology, what began as a search for answers becomes something far more dangerous: a malevolent entity has no intention of letting Angela go. And it has no intention of letting them go, either. The closer they get to the truth, the clearer it becomes that some places hold the dead long after death, and some shadows have waited centuries for someone just like her.
