1951. Seventh edition. [viii], 248pp. Ronald Arbuthnott Knox (1888-1957) was an English Catholic priest, theologian, author, and radio broadcaster. He published many works, including essays on religious, philosophical, and literary subjects, as well as several popular works of detective fiction. This is his second detective novel, first published in 1927, and features Miles Bredon. The chief character is a likeable youn man who is employed as a detective by a large insurance company. He is called upon to investigate the death under mysterious circumstances of one of the Company's clients. The book is bound in the original brown cloth covered boards with black titling on the spine. The book is in very good condition and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper is also very good with some shelf wear and light soiling and the spine is faded with some browning and wear. The top corners and top of the spine are very lightly bumped with nicks on the tips of the top corners. There is a tear of about 1/4" on the top front edge. Seller Inventory # gLitKnox03
