Print on Demand. This book explores the economic conditions governing the transmission of electrical energy by underground and overhead conductors. It emphasizes the importance of sound financial principles and provides concrete examples of problems that demand scientific treatment while considering commercial constraints. The author delves into key topics such as transmission losses, working pressure, control of E.H.P. trunk mains, impedance, earthing, line appliances, and more. The book also examines the impact of Board of Trade regulations on transmission schemes and discusses the use of E.H.P. three-phase armored cables underground. Through a historical and practical lens, the author presents valuable insights and calculations for engineers and specialists engaged in the generation and distribution of electrical energy. With its detailed analysis and practical examples, this book serves as an invaluable resource for understanding the economic and technical considerations in the field of electrical power transmission. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

With the increasing range of literature designed to meet the requirements of the electrical student, engineer, and specialist, some explanation may perhaps be offered for the appearance of a book devoting itself almost entirely to the electrical trans mission of energy by three-phase currents.
That this system of transmission is eminently suited to modern requirements is obvious from the fact that, with the extended application of electricity to industrial purposes, under takings formerly distributing single-phase or continuous current have alike resorted to three-phase transmission in order to enable them to cope with their widening field of operations. Thus with the very general use of three-phase transmission the practical consideration of the subject in all its bearings has become of the greatest importance.
