Item description from seller

Thirty Years a Watchtower Slave: The Confessions of a Converted Jehovah's Witness by William J. Schnell is one of the best-known and most controversial personal accounts written by a former Jehovah's Witness. First published in 1956, the book recounts Schnell's three decades of involvement with the Watch Tower movement, from the 1920s until his departure. Written from an evangelical Christian perspective after leaving the organisation, Schnell describes his experiences within the movement, its doctrines, methods of evangelism, internal organisation, and leadership. The book is both autobiography and religious critique, reflecting the author's conviction that he had escaped from a highly controlling religious system. It became widely read in evangelical circles and remains a significant historical source for understanding one strand of twentieth-century criticism of Jehovah's Witnesses.
